Insurance companies use many sources of information to underwrite or determine the price they will charge for a policy. For example, they will look at your driving record to see if you have any tickets or accidents. A person with tickets is considered a higher risk, and would therefore be charged more than the person with no tickets. Most companies are also now looking at a person's credit score. This is not the same as your credit report which reveals many personal facts about you. It is simply a numeric score based on your credit report. The insurance companies have found that people with a lower credit score have more claims, and therefore are a higher risk. The premium they charge is largely dependent on this credit score, so it is impossible to accurately quote a policy without this information. The quote forms will ask you for some personal information like your date of birth, social security number, and drivers license number so that we may provide you with an accurate quote.

Many web pages are providing quotes online without first checking your credit score. They are quoting you the best price the companies offers, but when you actually submit your application, they will then review your credit score and you could end up with a much higher premium. We prefer to give accurate quotes to avoid any surprises.
